NYSED Opens Public Comment Period for Proposed Amendments to ESSA Plan

  • The °ÄÃÅÌØÂëÍõ (NYSED) is opening a public comment opportunity focused on proposed amendments to the °ÄÃÅÌØÂëÍõ consolidated State plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The proposed amendments initiate the first part of the Reimagine Phase of the accountability system for the 2025-26 school year using 2024-25 school year results. Ìý
  • By incorporating input from educational experts and stakeholders, including public comment from a recent survey, the proposed amendments include: Ìý
    • Modifications to components from the two-year Rebuild Phase, such as accountability indicators, identification criteria, and exit criteria;Ìý
    • Reintroduction of the elementary/middle level Growth and high school level College, Career, and Civic Readiness (CCCR) accountability indicators; and Ìý
    • Replacement of Chronic Absenteeism indicator with a new Attendance Indicator. â¶Ä¯Ìý

  • Public comments can be emailed to ESSAComments@nysed.gov. NYSED will be accepting public comments through 11:59 PM EST on °Â±ð»å²Ô±ð²õ»å²¹²â,ÌýJuly 31, 2024. â¶Ä¯Ìý
