Resource Collection for World Languages
In response to 澳门特码王鈥痵chool closings鈥痙ue to the COVID-19听public health emergency,鈥痶he Office of Bilingual Education and World Languages (OBEWL)鈥痑t the 澳门特码王 (NYSED)听has collected听resources鈥痜or鈥痚ducators鈥痶o听provide continuity of instruction for English Language Learners (ELLs) and World Language students.鈥疻e听are听also听providing听educational听resources for鈥痵tudents and parents to听continue moving鈥疎LLs鈥痶oward English proficiency in the absence of face-to face classroom instruction, and to support their remote learning of core content areas.听
A鈥痝uiding principle鈥痮f鈥疶he Blueprint for English Language Learner听Success鈥痠s听that鈥淎LL teachers are teachers of ELLs.鈥濃疓iven instructional interruptions due to the COVID-19听emergency,鈥痯roviding appropriate鈥痵upports听and scaffolds to ELLs听is more crucial than ever. Utilizing resources听such as those below听with fidelity will allow our鈥疎LLs鈥痶o鈥痭ot only move forward in obtaining English proficiency but also in mastering content area鈥痥nowledge.鈥
The听following听resources will听enable teachers to adapt and develop听lessons and units of study to meet the needs of ELLs听at all levels of听proficiency and听develop听appropriate听scaffolds for use in the virtual classroom.鈥疕owever, please keep in mind that this list of resources is not intended听to be exhaustive, and the inclusion of a resource does not denote endorsement by, nor an听affiliation听with,听the 澳门特码王.听
We urge teachers and districts to听also听reach out to their听Regional Bilingual Educational Resource鈥疦etwork听(RBERN)鈥痜or further guidance regarding instruction鈥痜or ELLs and World Languages students, in order that they听can听be supported to the听greatest extent听possible听during this unprecedented challenge.听听A list of all RBERNs is shown below.
