Board of Regents Chancellor Lester W. Young, Jr. said, "Although women's history is an essential part of our collective story, it has often been overlooked and underappreciated. However, the three courageous women represented in the Women's Rights Pioneers Monument Model, through their unwavering determination and dedication to fight for change and equality, even when it was unpopular and dangerous to do so, roused a prevailing movement that still lives on today. Their relentless demand for equality reminds us that the fight for women's rights is far from over and that we must continue working together to ensure women's voices are valued and heard."

State Education Commissioner Betty A. Rosa said, 鈥淏y learning about the struggles and achievements of women in the past, we all gain a more comprehensive and accurate understanding about the ways in which gender has influenced and shaped our society. Our shared history helps us to appreciate how the trailblazers, who are so powerfully depicted in the Women鈥檚 Rights Pioneers Monument Model, challenged traditional gender roles and expectations while also leaving a legacy of triumph, resilience, and the fortitude to continue to fight for justice and equality for generations of women to come.鈥

The 1/3-size Women鈥檚 Rights Pioneers Monument was made possible through donations raised by , a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness and appreciation of women鈥檚 history through a national education campaign. Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton on the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment and women winning the right to vote.
